Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 8, 2026  ·  Effective immediately

Plain-language summary: barefoot.style is a barefoot shoe news feed and review site. We set no cookies and store no IP addresses. The only personal data we hold is your email address, and only if you ask us for the newsletter or for a back-in-stock alert. Some outbound “View product” buttons are affiliate links: if you click one and buy something, we may earn a commission. You never pay more because of it. We do not sell your personal data to anyone.

01 Who We Are

This website is operated by an individual based in the Czech Republic (European Union). For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the data controller is:

barefoot.style
Website: barefoot.style
Contact: privacy@barefoot.style
Country of residence: Czech Republic, European Union

02 What Data We Collect

We collect two categories of data:

A — Data you provide voluntarily

If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address.
If you ask to be told when a sold-out size comes back in stock, we store your email address together with the shoe and size you asked about, and delete it once the alert has been sent.
These are the only personal data you actively submit to us. We do not collect names, postal addresses, phone numbers, payment details, or IP addresses.

B — Data that stays in your browser

Some features remember things using your browser’s local storage. This never reaches our server and we cannot read it:

  • Find your size: the foot measurements you enter stay on your device only. They are never transmitted to us.
  • Favourites: the shoes you save are kept as a list of IDs in your browser.
  • View preference: which catalogue layout you last chose.

Clearing your browser data removes all of it.

C — Data collected automatically

When you visit the site, our own server automatically records:

  • Pages visited, time spent, and the page that referred you — measured by our own analytics and only ever read in aggregate
  • Approximate location (city level) and device or browser category. Your IP address is used to look up the city and is discarded straight away — it is never written to our database
  • Which shoe a “View product” button was clicked for, together with its brand and price
  • Our web server keeps basic access logs for troubleshooting. They record the page requested, the response status and how long it took — no IP addresses and no browser identifiers. There is nothing in them that identifies you.

We do not collect names, postal addresses, phone numbers, or payment details.

03 Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): Newsletter subscription and back-in-stock alerts.
  • Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)): Keeping the site working and secure, and measuring how it is used. Our analytics stores no cookies, no IP addresses and no identifiers, and our server logs are stripped of anything identifying, so no personal data is processed on this basis.
  • Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)): Retaining records where required by law.

04 How We Use Your Data

  • To measure and improve site performance (analytics)
  • To send newsletters you have subscribed to
  • To protect the site from abuse and security threats

We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling.

05 Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own. Nothing is stored on your device to recognise you while you browse. The one exception happens only if you click an affiliate link, and is described below:

Essential cookies

None are set for ordinary visitors. WordPress sets a session cookie only for the site administrator when signed in.

Analytics cookies

None. Our analytics runs on our own server and counts visits without cookies and without storing IP addresses, so there is nothing to consent to and no consent banner to click. Until 3 August 2026 this site used Google Analytics, which did set two cookies; it has been removed, and any cookies it left on your device are cleared automatically the next time you visit.

Affiliate tracking cookies

We take part in the Commission Junction (CJ) affiliate network. We set no affiliate cookies ourselves. If you click a “View product” button for a participating retailer, the link passes through CJ on the way to that retailer, and CJ may set a cookie in your browser so the purchase can be credited to us. This happens only when you actively click such a link — nothing is set while you are simply browsing this site. How long the cookie lasts is set by each retailer’s programme and is typically between 14 and 30 days. You can block or clear these cookies in your browser settings at any time; nothing on this site stops working if you do.

You can review or clear cookies left by any site at any time through your browser settings.

06 Affiliate Disclosure

barefoot.style takes part in affiliate programmes through the Commission Junction (CJ) network. When you click a “View product” button for a participating retailer, the link may pass through CJ before it reaches the retailer’s own website. If you then buy something, we may receive a commission from that retailer. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be going to the retailer directly.

Not every link here is an affiliate link. We have a commercial relationship with only a small number of the brands listed on this site. Links to all the others go straight to the brand’s own shop and earn us nothing.

Our editorial content is independent. Which brands and models appear on this site, how they are described, and how they are ordered in the catalogue do not depend on whether a commission is available. We do not accept payment in exchange for being listed or for favourable placement.

07 Third-Party Services

We work with the following third parties who may process data on our behalf:

Website analytics

Runs on our own server inside the European Union. No third party receives anything about your visit, and nothing about it leaves our own infrastructure.

Affiliate network

Commission Junction LLC (CJ) runs the affiliate programmes we take part in. We do not send CJ anything about you. If you choose to click an affiliate link, CJ receives the technical information that any website receives when your browser visits it — including your IP address — and uses a cookie to attribute the visit. CJ is based in the United States; see section 10.

Email newsletter

Used to send updates about new arrivals. Submitted addresses are stored directly in our own database on our server — not shared with any third-party email marketing platform. You can ask us to delete your data at any time by emailing privacy@barefoot.style.

We do not share your data with any other third parties unless required by law.

08 Data Retention

  • Newsletter subscribers: Your email is retained until you unsubscribe, after which it is deleted within 30 days.
  • Analytics data: Kept on our own server for as long as the site runs. It holds no cookie identifiers, no IP addresses and nothing that identifies you.
  • Server logs: Kept for 14 days, then deleted automatically. They contain no personal data.

09 Your Rights Under GDPR

As a visitor to our site, you have all rights granted to you under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@barefoot.style. We will respond within 10 days.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Czech data protection authority (ÚOOÚ): uoou.cz

10 International Data Transfers

Everything this site collects itself stays on servers inside the European Union, and we transfer no personal data outside it.

There is one exception, and it sits outside our own systems: if you click an affiliate link (see section 06), your browser is redirected through Commission Junction LLC, a company based in the United States, before reaching the retailer. That exchange happens between your browser and CJ rather than from our servers, and only if you choose to click such a link. What CJ does with that data is governed by its own privacy policy.

11 Children’s Privacy

Our site is not directed at children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

12 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. We will notify newsletter subscribers of any material changes. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
